The
Group's history
From a parcel delivery service to an international
Ltd
The history of the Hoevers Group dates back to 1924
when Mr A. Hoevers paid 300 Dutch guilders for a horse
and a wagon which he used to start a parcel delivery
service between Velp and Arnhem. He bought his first
lorry
two years later. Mr Hoevers continued to build up his
business in the years that followed up to the Second
World War when he was forced to stop trading. In 1945
Mr Hoevers started trading again, resorting to the
old formula of a horse and a wagon. It did not take long
before he was given a unique opportunity
to buy a number of
Dodges from an army surplus store. The foundation
stone for today's success had been laid.
Jaap Moerkerken joined the business in March 1947 and he was responsible for
the increasingly number of customers. That is how Hoevers became responsible
for
transport arrangements for ENKA, now AKZO. ENKA's
forwarding department had moved from Rotterdam to Arnhem
in the early 1940s. Companies such as Hoogovens and
Billiton became customers of Hoevers later on. The
organization has grown considerably over the years,
1970 standing out as a highlight. In that year Hoevers
launched its international transport business and became
AKZO's official carrier. Hoevers decided to focus on
Germany, the Benelux countries and France.

The emergence
of the new Ltd's
In 1985 Hoevers opened a second branch and warehouse
in Emmen, a prime location for the growing transport
operations to Germany. Hoevers Expeditie, a border
office that nowadays operates as Cargon BV, opened
its doors in 1988. In 1997 Hoevers decided to set up
its own workshop under the name "Multi Service
Arnhem", and the four BVs came under the umbrella
of the Hoevers Group.
In 80 years Hoevers has grown into a modern logistics
service provider with four operating companies, 50
lorries, 75 trailers and 80 employees. A growing number
of renowned business contacts are deciding to use Hoevers
for their transport requirements. The Hoevers Group
is well-known for its unflagging dedication and excellent
quality. Each and every employee feels a commitment
to the family business and contributes energetically
to the Group's success. Not surprisingly, the Group
hardly has any staff turnover.

The Hoevers Group remains focused
on the future
The Hoevers Group has managed to
expand its range of services considerably in 80 years,
thus responding to the requirements of its customers.
Obviously, this successful formula will continue into
the future. Cargon and Multi Service Arnhem are currently,
in a build-up phase and are creating high
expectations. In addition
more and more opportunities are emerging in relation
to automation and, each year, Hoevers invests in new,
advanced systems that do the work even more efficiently,
thus creating employee as well as customer satisfaction.
The purposeful working methods and customer loyalty
have ultimately determined Hoevers' growth into what
it has now become: a dedicated organization which offers
a comprehensive range of services and which, after
its first 80 years, looks happily to the future.
